Description

Skorpios 1618 Tequila Añejo is produced at NOM 1522, Hacienda de Oro, in Amatitán within the Los Valles region of Jalisco. Single-estate agaves aged 7 to 10 years are slow-cooked in traditional brick ovens, crushed on a roller mill, and fermented in the open air before undergoing double distillation in copper pot stills, with no additives used at any stage. The añejo spends 18 to 24 months resting in medium-char American bourbon barrels, and the finished spirit is presented in a bronze and gold ceramic bottle shaped as a coiled snake.

The extended time in bourbon wood shows immediately in the glass, with a deep amber color leading into a nose of caramel, vanilla, prune, dates, and orange peel. On the palate, cooked agave meets pronounced wood notes alongside fruit, nuts, and sweet bourbon-barrel character, closing in a finish that is ultra-smooth and delicate, with a natural, lingering oak that carries well after the last sip.

The sculptural ceramic bottle and extended barrel aging make this añejo a standout for a tequila collection or a milestone gift, and it pairs well alongside Agave Vault' other aged and extra añejo tequila selections for anyone building out a shelf. Ships to most US states. Adult-signature required at delivery.

How to drink

Neat: Pour in a snifter to let the bourbon-barrel aromatics of caramel, vanilla, and dried fruit open up.

On the Rocks: Serve over a large ice cube to slow the dilution and soften the oak on the finish.

With a Drop of Water: Add a few drops of still water to loosen the aromatics and draw out the orange peel and nut notes.

Cocktails: Use in an Añejo Old Fashioned with agave syrup and orange bitters to play up the barrel character.

Pair With: Serve alongside dark chocolate, roasted nuts, or a plate of dried stone fruit to echo the barrel notes.
