Description

Pedro Vasquez and his family make Nuestra Soledad Miahuat in Lachiguí, a ranch settlement on the side of a steep ravine. The palenque stands at 7,414 feet. Tio Pedro's agave fields lie another 500 feet up the mountain, in rocky, limestone-rich soil. Generations of mezcal-making experience inform the Vasquez family's work in this demanding terrain.

Earth and minerals lead the aromas, with smoky agave and dried herbs behind them. The palate is full and robust. Roasted agave, charred wood and subtle citrus bring sweet and savory notes together. Minerality continues through the sip. The long finish leaves gentle warmth, smoky agave and a little black pepper.

Serve neat at room temperature in a mezcal glass. Let it breathe for a few minutes before taking a small sip. Alongside food, consider mole or tlayudas.
