Gran Malo Jamaica Tequila Liqueur

Gran Malo Jamaica is a hibiscus-flavored tequila liqueur: the label reads "licor con tequila sabor Jamaica", made in Mexico on a tequila blanco base and bottled at 30% ABV (60 proof) in 750 mL. Jamaica is the Spanish name for the hibiscus flower, and the drink it points to is agua de jamaica, the deep-red hibiscus agua fresca sold across Mexico.

Gran Malo was founded in 2021 by Mexican creator Luisito Comunica together with Casa Lumbre, the Mexico City group behind Ancho Reyes and Montelobos, and the line built its name on the Spicy Tamarindo shot. The brand announced Gran Malo Jamaica in September 2024 as a limited edition, available while stocks last, describing it as the freshness of the hibiscus flower combined with the intensity of tequila. In the United States the Gran Malo range is imported and distributed by E. & J. Gallo.

Producer notes: the brand describes Jamaica as fresh and lightly tart, with floral and earthy notes. The label itself says "sírvase muy frío", serve very cold, and the brand's own serve is a frozen shot. Its house long drink, the Jamaikitzzz, is simply Gran Malo Jamaica over ice topped with sparkling mineral water.
