Description

Carlos Camarena and Shinji Fukuyo collaborate on El Tesoro's 2025 Yamazaki Edition. The añejo finishes for 12 months in sherry and wine casks from Yamazaki 12-Year-Old Japanese whisky. El Tesoro is made at La Alteña in the Jalisco highlands, where production dates to 1937 and uses stone ovens and a tahona. This release belongs to the annual Mundial Collection.

Cooked agave and red berries introduce the nose, with warm spice and a delicate oak note. Sweet agave continues on the palate alongside dark berries, toasted spice, and light sherry richness. The finish is clean and layered, carrying the influence of the Yamazaki casks.

Serve neat at room temperature in a tulip glass or copita. Sip slowly to follow the agave, fruit, and cask notes. Dark chocolate, roasted nuts, or aged cheese can accompany the pour.

Tasting notes
Nose
Slow-cooked agave, orchard fruits, vanilla, caramel, cinnamon
Palate
Cooked agave, dark chocolate, black pepper, cinnamon, vanilla bean, orange peel
Finish
Lingering oak, sweet spice, faint minerality

Appearance: Rich wheat brown with glimmering golden hues. Full-bodied and rounded, showcasing a silky texture and depth.

Nose: Inviting aromas of slow-cooked agave and ripe orchard fruits — peaches, apple, and pineapple — layered with notes of vanilla, caramel, toasted bread, cinnamon, leather, and gentle floral undertones.

Palate: Balanced and expressive, revealing waves of cooked agave, dark chocolate, black pepper, cinnamon, and vanilla bean. Mid-palate warmth gives way to oak-driven spice, orange peel, and subtle rye complexity from the Knob Creek barrels.

Finish: Long and satisfying, with lingering oak, sweet spice, and a faint minerality that reflects its highland terroir.

How to drink

Neat: Best savored neat in a Glencairn or Riedel tequila glass to appreciate the full depth of aromas and oak influence.

On the Rocks: Over a large clear ice cube to slowly release notes of vanilla and spice.

Premium Cocktail: Ideal in an Añejo Old Fashioned—combine with a touch of agave nectar and Angostura bitters to highlight the rye barrel character.

Pairing: Complements dark chocolate, roasted nuts, aged cheeses, or a fine cigar for an indulgent sipping experience.
