Mexicano agave, a close relative of Espadín, is the basis of this El Jolgorio mezcal. In some Zapotec dialects, the plant is called doba-daan or dob-daiin. It grows large, with broad, serrated leaves that often have black tips. Its concentration of natural sugars is another defining feature of the plant.

Earth and herbs lead the nose, with a faint campfire note. The palate opens sweetly with roasted agave, caramelized sugar and honey. Gentle smoke balances that sweetness.
