Description

Mature blue Weber agave provides the starting point for El Charro Reposado. Drawing on Jalisco's distilling tradition, the producer rests the tequila in oak barrels to develop vanilla and caramel notes. The wood brings warmth while preserving the earthy character of roasted agave. Bottled at 40% ABV, it keeps agave and barrel influence in balance.

Roasted agave and light vanilla lead the aromas, followed by dried citrus peel. Oak becomes more apparent with a little time in the glass. Caramel and vanilla round out the palate's earthy agave sweetness. Mild black pepper and toasted wood add definition, with fruit and mineral notes underneath. The medium finish leaves soft vanilla, agave earthiness, and a fading warmth.

Sip neat from a small snifter or tequila glass after a minute of rest. It also works over a large cube, or in a Margarita with fresh lime juice and triple sec.

Nose

Roasted blue agave leads with notes of cooked agave, light vanilla, and a hint of dried citrus peel. Subtle oak undertones emerge after a moment in the glass.

Palate

Warm caramel and vanilla from oak aging layer over earthy agave sweetness. A mild black pepper spice and toasted wood character provide structure without overwhelming the fruit and mineral notes underneath.

Finish

Medium length with lingering agave earthiness, a soft vanilla sweetness, and a gentle warmth that fades cleanly.
How to drink
  1. Neat: Pour into a small snifter or tequila glass and allow a minute to open up. Sip slowly to appreciate the interplay between oak and roasted agave.
  2. Classic Margarita: Shake 2 parts El Charro Reposado, 1 part fresh lime juice, and 1/2 part triple sec with ice. Strain into a salt-rimmed glass over fresh ice. Garnish with a lime wheel.
  3. Paloma: Combine 2 parts El Charro Reposado with 3 parts grapefruit soda over ice in a highball glass. Add a squeeze of fresh lime and a pinch of salt. Garnish with a grapefruit wedge.
  4. Tequila Old Fashioned: Stir 2 parts El Charro Reposado with 1/4 part agave nectar and 2 dashes Angostura bitters over ice. Strain into a rocks glass over a large cube. Garnish with an orange peel.
  5. Tommy's Margarita: Shake 2 parts El Charro Reposado, 1 part fresh lime juice, and 1/2 part agave nectar with ice. Strain over fresh ice and garnish with a lime wedge.
