Description

American oak aging follows the slow roasting of mature blue Weber agave in Dos Artes Añejo. The agave comes from the Jalisco highlands and cooks in traditional brick ovens. At least a year in barrel brings caramel, dried fruit, and spice to its earthy foundation. Mexican artisans hand-paint each bottle.

Roasted agave meets caramel, toasted oak, and dried apricot on the nose. Vanilla and cinnamon become clearer after a few moments. Baked agave and dark caramel lead the palate, followed by cooked fruit, brown sugar, and clove. Charred oak adds structure, while minerals and earth balance the sweetness. A long finish carries vanilla and toasted wood, with dried fruit, spice, and agave earthiness lingering.

Sip neat from a wide-mouthed glass after a brief rest, or pour over one large cube. For an Old Fashioned, stir with agave nectar and bitters, then garnish with expressed orange peel.

Nose

Roasted agave leads alongside warm caramel, toasted oak, and dried apricot. Subtle hints of vanilla and cinnamon emerge with a few moments in the glass.

Palate

Smooth entry of baked agave, dark caramel, and cooked fruit. Layers of brown sugar, clove, and charred oak develop through the mid-palate, balanced by an earthy, minerally agave backbone that keeps the sweetness in check.

Finish

Long and warming with lingering notes of vanilla, toasted wood, and a gentle agave earthiness. A whisper of dried fruit and spice rounds out the close.

How to drink
  1. Neat: Pour 2 parts Dos Artes Añejo into a wide-mouth glass and allow it to rest briefly. The oak, caramel, and roasted agave are best appreciated without dilution.
  2. Añejo Old Fashioned: Combine 2 parts Dos Artes Añejo with 1/4 part agave nectar and 2 dashes Angostura bitters. Stir over ice and strain into a rocks glass over a large cube. Garnish with an expressed orange peel.
  3. Añejo Negroni: Stir 1 part Dos Artes Añejo, 1 part Campari, and 1 part sweet vermouth over ice. Strain into a coupe and garnish with an orange twist.
  4. Tequila Manhattan: Stir 2 parts Dos Artes Añejo with 1 part sweet vermouth and 2 dashes mole bitters over ice. Strain into a chilled coupe and garnish with a brandied cherry.
  5. On the Rocks: Pour 2 parts over a single large ice cube in a rocks glass to gradually open up the dried fruit and vanilla notes as it chills.
