Description

Oaxaca is the setting for Del Maguey's Las Milpas, a single village mezcal made through traditional methods. Agave and the region's earthy character guide the liquid. The emphasis is on artisanal production, with a range of mineral, fruit and floral notes that gives plenty to consider in a small pour.

Slate and minerals lead the nose. Tropical fruit and bright citrus follow, alongside rose petals and lavender. Tarragon and pea shoots add a green, herbal edge. On the palate, agave sweetness meets tropical fruit. Citrus carries through, with rose and lavender returning alongside it. The movement between earth, fruit and flowers is worth following slowly.

Serve neat in a traditional mezcal glass. For an Old Fashioned, stir with sugar, bitters and ice, then add an orange twist.
