Description

A private family recipe from Amatitán, Jalisco, guides Código 1530. The house refers to those inherited tequila-making traditions as Los Códigos. This extra añejo spends fifteen years in oak, developing a deep mahogany color with copper glints. It is bottled at 44% ABV, with cooked agave still present beneath the long barrel influence.

Dark chocolate and dried fig introduce the nose. Toasted oak, vanilla bean, and leather follow, with a quiet roasted-agave note. The palate layers toffee and espresso over cooked agave, then brings baking spice, candied orange peel, and barrel char. Cocoa, sweet tobacco, and oak remain through a long, warming finish.

Allow a neat pour a few minutes in a snifter or tequila glass. A few drops of spring water bring dried fruit and agave sweetness forward. If chilled is your preference, use a single large cube.

  • Color: Deep mahogany with polished copper glints from fifteen years in oak

  • Finish: Exceptionally long and warming — cocoa, sweet tobacco, and lingering oak that fades into soft agave sweetness
How to drink

Neat: Pour into a snifter or tequila glass and give it a few minutes to open — this is a bottle to sip slowly, the way you would a fine cognac.

With a Drop of Water: A few drops of spring water loosen the oak and bring the dried fruit and agave sweetness forward.

On the Rocks: If you prefer it chilled, use a single large, slow-melting cube to keep dilution gentle.

Pair With: Serve alongside dark chocolate, candied pecans, or an after-dinner cigar to echo its oak and cocoa depth.
