Description

La Laja estate supplies the blue Weber agave for this single-estate añejo from Tequila Ocho. The project brings together Carlos Camarena, a fifth-generation agave farmer and tequilero, and Tomas Estes, who helped introduce tequila culture to Europe. Their focus is the character of agave from a particular place. This tequila is bottled at 40% ABV.

Cooked agave opens the nose with both sweet and savory notes. Dark cacao, coffee, nutmeg and vanilla follow on the palate, alongside dried fruit and salted caramel. The texture is buttery. A long peppery finish balances the sweeter flavors and gives the close a distinct edge.

Sip neat from a tequila glass or snifter. For an Agave Old Fashioned, use sugar, Angostura bitters and a large ice cube, then garnish with an orange twist.
