Description

Maestro Tequilero Jesus Hernandez joined bartenders Henry Besant and Andres Masso in 2009 to create Olmeca Altos. Their aim was a 100% agave tequila for both sipping and cocktails. The añejo carries that intention through barrel aging, which contributes vanilla and wood notes. It is bottled at 40% ABV.

Vanilla leads the aroma with a sweet, creamy impression. Wood sits underneath, adding another dimension to the agave character. The palate is smooth, with sweetness reminiscent of bourbon. Vanilla and woody undertones connect the aroma to the taste, making the barrel influence a clear part of the experience.

Enjoy neat or over ice. For an Añejo Old Fashioned, combine two ounces with sugar, Angostura bitters and a splash of water. Stir over a large ice cube and garnish with orange peel and a maraschino cherry.
