Description

Fourth-generation distiller Felipe Camarena makes G4 at El Pandillo in Los Altos, Jalisco. Blue Weber agave cooks in stone ovens before a metal tahona crushes it. Distillation uses equal parts rainwater and spring water. The additive-free añejo then spends at least 18 months in previously used American bourbon barrels. Bottling strength is 40% ABV.

Caramel and vanilla bean rise first, with toasted oak and cooked agave following. The palate carries agave through butterscotch, vanilla and dried fruit. Black pepper adds a small accent against the oak. The finish lasts, warm with sweet agave and wood, before a light pepper note fades.

Use a wide-mouthed glass and give a neat pour a minute or two. A few drops of still water bring out agave and fruit aromas. One large ice cube offers a cooler serve.

How to drink

Neat: Pour into a wide-mouthed glass and allow a minute or two to open up before sipping.

With a Drop of Water: A few drops of still water unlock additional agave and fruit aromatics without dulling the oak.

On the Rocks: A single large ice cube tempers the warmth and draws out the caramel and vanilla notes over time.

Cocktails: Works well in an Añejo Old Fashioned or a Paloma built with grapefruit soda and a salted rim.

Pair With: Complements dark chocolate, aged cheeses, or a slow-smoked brisket.
