Description

Guillermo Sauza, a fifth-generation member of the Sauza family, makes Fortaleza Reposado from estate-grown blue agave. Stone crushing is part of the production process. Aging takes place in American oak bourbon barrels, bringing oak warmth alongside the agave character. This additive-free reposado is bottled at 40% ABV.

Citrus and cooked agave meet caramel and butter on the nose. A small herbal note recalls sage. The palate moves through cooked agave, citrus and vanilla, with apple, earth and cinnamon adding detail. An oily texture carries those flavors into a long finish. The closing spice is delicate, with richness that stays on the palate.

Serve neat at room temperature in a tequila glass. For a longer drink, combine with tonic over large ice cubes and finish with a basil leaf.
