Description

Master Distiller Karina Rojo makes El Bandido Yankee Añejo at El Viejito Distillery in Los Altos de Jalisco. It begins with 100% blue Weber agave and carries a certified additive-free designation. Twelve months in stripped and re-charred American oak bourbon barrels build wood structure while keeping the agave character present.

The nose combines agave and vanilla bean with ripe cherry and baking spice. Agave remains central on the palate as cherry, cinnamon, and allspice develop. Toasted oak and cracked black pepper bring a drier counterpoint. The long, warming finish leaves oak and pepper with a faint cherry sweetness.

Serve neat at room temperature in a tulip glass. A few drops of water open the cherry and spice notes. Alternatively, pour over a single large cube for a softer oak edge.

How to drink

Neat: Served at room temperature in a tulip glass to appreciate the full range of agave, vanilla, and layered oak character.

With a Drop of Water: A few drops open up the cherry and baking spice notes while softening the black pepper on the finish.

On the Rocks: A single large cube tempers the oak spice and elongates the vanilla without diluting the agave core.

Cocktails: Exceptional in an Añejo Old Fashioned — combine with agave nectar and aromatic bitters and express an orange peel over the top.

Pair With: Dark chocolate, grilled meats, or aged hard cheeses echo the baking spice and oak layers well.
