Description

Estate-grown agave from Jalisco's Highlands goes into Don Pilar Reposado. The producer uses extended fermentation before the tequila spends six months in virgin American white oak barrels. That rest adds vanilla, caramel and light oak while retaining baked agave brightness. Bottled at 40% ABV, it has a light amber color with golden highlights.

Fresh agave opens the nose, with soft oak, citrus and a little buttery sweetness behind it. Citrus zest carries onto the smooth palate alongside baked agave. Vanilla and light caramel bring warmth, with a delicate oak note running through the middle. The finish is gentle and clean, leaving caramel, vanilla and mild oak spice.

Serve neat in a small tasting glass or old-fashioned glass. A little ice brings citrus and vanilla forward. It also works in a classic Reposado Margarita.
