Description
Local palenqueros handcraft this Espadín mezcal in Chichicapa, Oaxaca. Del Maguey, founded by Ron Cooper, centers its single village approach on traditional production and the people who carry it forward. Chichicapa's land, microclimate and makers anchor the spirit. It is bottled at 46% ABV.
Roasted agave and smoky minerals introduce the nose, with a little floral detail. The palate brings caramelized agave sweetness and smoke alongside banana and pineapple. Fresh mint and wildflower notes add an herbal, floral counterpoint to the tropical fruit. Smoke stays present as the flavors develop. A long finish leaves warmth and a continuing smoky impression.
Enjoy neat at room temperature or slightly chilled, taking small sips. For a mixed pour, combine Chichicapa with agave nectar and fresh lime juice to bring citrus alongside its smoky agave character.
