Description

At Casa San Matías, single-estate Corazón tequila rests in barrels that previously held William Larue Weller bourbon from Buffalo Trace Distillery. Barrel placement encourages airflow for consistent maturation. Evaluations take place every two months as the añejo develops. This Expresiones release is made without additives.

Roasted pineapple and cooked green apple open the nose. Honey syrup, lime peel and flowers add sweetness and lift. Limestone gives the palate a mineral center, set against creamy butterscotch and lemon cookie notes. White pepper brings a little spice, with charred oak underneath. The finish is brief and clean, leaving dry oak and a trace of char.

Try it neat in a snifter or Glencairn glass. A single ice cube can soften the oak dryness. It also works in a Tequila Old Fashioned.
