Description

Wild Tepextate can take up to 25 years to reach maturity. Cosme "Tucho" Hernández and his brother Daniel Hernandez oversee its transformation into Convite Mezcal Tepextate. Their work follows Mexico's artisanal mezcal tradition, with double distillation in copper alembic stills forming part of the process.

Smoke and earth introduce the aromas. The palate brings roasted agave and citrus, followed by gentle sweetness and floral notes. Smoke continues through these shifts, meeting the flowers and fruit rather than standing alone. The finish is smooth, with an herbal note that remains after the sip. From the earthy opening to the herbal close, there are several elements to follow at an unhurried pace.

Serve neat in a traditional mezcal glass. A slice of orange and a pinch of sal de gusano offer an accompanying serve.
