Description
Califino selects mature agave at peak ripeness before processing and distillation. Its añejo then rests in American oak barrels for up to 36 months. That maturation develops a golden-amber color and brings toasted wood into the tequila's character. Baked agave remains a clear part of the liquid beneath the barrel notes.
Lightly toasted barrel and caramel introduce the nose. The palate follows with deep baked agave and toasted almond, combining earthiness with a nutty accent. It is full-bodied and warm. Toasted oak carries through the finish, extending the barrel character beyond the sip.
Serve neat in a snifter or tumbler. For an Old Fashioned, combine the tequila with a sugar cube and a dash of bitters, stir over ice, and finish with a twist of orange peel.
