Description
Marigolds and mandarin peels join Espadín agave in Bozal Cempasuchil Ancestral Reserva. The flowers and peels enter during the final distillation. Cempasúchil is the Mexican marigold named on the bottle, a flower associated with Mexican celebrations and rituals. Here, it is also part of how the mezcal is made.
Wet-earth aromas accompany a delicate floral opening. Mandarin peel brings a restrained citrus note, followed by richer smoke at the middle of the palate. The Espadín character sits among those floral, earthy, and smoky elements. Wildflower notes remain on the finish, returning the sip to the flowers used in distillation.
Serve neat or over ice in a mezcal glass. An orange slice or a little sea salt can sit alongside. For a cocktail, combine with fresh lime juice and agave nectar.
