Description

Agazul draws on the tequila traditions of the Jalisco highlands. Mature blue Weber agave is slowly cooked before fermentation and distillation. The añejo then spends at least a year in oak barrels. Time in wood introduces vanilla, caramel, and dried fruit while the agave retains its earthy, vegetal character.

Roasted agave opens the nose with vanilla and toasted oak. Dried apricot and caramel emerge as the tequila rests in the glass. On the palate, agave sweetness meets butterscotch, cinnamon, and a light tobacco note. Oak stays measured, with cooked agave carrying through the middle. The medium finish is warm and clean, leaving caramel, baking spice, and a little earthiness.

Pour neat into a snifter or rocks glass and wait a minute before sipping. Serve over a large cube if preferred. An Añejo Old Fashioned brings together the tequila, agave nectar, bitters, and orange peel.

Finish

Nose

Roasted blue agave opens the nose alongside warm vanilla and toasted oak. Hints of dried apricot and caramel emerge with a little time in the glass.

Palate

Smooth agave sweetness anchors the mid-palate, supported by notes of butterscotch, cinnamon spice, and light tobacco leaf. The oak influence is present but measured, allowing the cooked agave character to remain the focal point through each sip.

Finish

Warm and medium-length, with lingering caramel, a touch of baking spice, and a subtle earthiness that recalls the agave fields of Jalisco. The finish fades cleanly without excess heat.

How to drink
  1. Neat: Pour 2 parts Agazul Añejo into a snifter or rocks glass and let it open for a minute before sipping to appreciate the full oak and agave character.
  2. Añejo Old Fashioned: Combine 2 parts Agazul Añejo with 1/4 part agave nectar and 2 dashes Angostura bitters over a large ice cube. Stir and garnish with an orange peel.
  3. Tequila Manhattan: Stir 2 parts Agazul Añejo with 1 part sweet vermouth and 2 dashes mole bitters over ice. Strain into a coupe and garnish with a brandied cherry.
  4. Añejo Sour: Shake 2 parts Agazul Añejo, 1 part fresh lemon juice, and 1/2 part agave syrup with ice. Strain over fresh ice and garnish with a dehydrated lime wheel.
  5. On the Rocks: Pour over a single large ice cube in a rocks glass. The gradual dilution opens up additional layers of fruit and spice as the ice melts.
