Fully mature agave and the character of the El Zapotito ranch guide the release. A full year in former American oak whiskey barrels brings a light amber color and measured wood influence. The tequila is additive free, with cooked agave remaining central after maturation.

Black tea, cracked pepper and damp tobacco leaf appear on the nose. Toasted oak and earthy agave follow. Cooked agave carries the silky palate through dark cacao, roasted coffee, nutmeg and dried fruit. Salted caramel adds a sweeter layer. Pepper lingers on a long finish, with a buttery texture giving way to oak and sweet agave.

Sip neat at room temperature. A few drops of water can lift cacao and dried fruit. For an Añejo Old Fashioned, add agave nectar and chocolate bitters.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0995/8103/4814/files/tequila-ocho-single-estate-el-zapotito-single-barrel-anejo-tequila-cutout.png?v=1790271035
