Those barrels held rye for seven years before receiving the tequila. The process brings the agave spirit into contact with seasoned whiskey wood, connecting El Tesoro's tequila with the character left by the rye.

Agave leads the nose, accompanied by oak and charred wood. A long, warming finish carries both agave and the influence of the rye barrels.

Serve neat in a snifter or over one large ice cube. Dark chocolate, spiced desserts, or aged cheeses make suitable accompaniments.
